A few months have passed since we first shared our plans to build an elevator and launched the fundraising campaign. Since then, the project has moved forward and is starting to take real shape:
Planning Status and Preparations
We’ve now secured both an architect and a construction company to carry out the project. The detailed planning is in place and covers practical aspects such as the construction site setup, the shaft framework, and protective canopies. We’ve also already made some initial structural adjustments — regular guests may have noticed that the radiator in the changing room has been modified.
Timeline for Implementation
The timeline is becoming clearer as well: construction is currently planned for June through August 2026. This also gives us a bit of breathing room to make sure the financing is fully secured.
Cost Development and Background
As announced back in June 2025, we have already set aside funds to cover a large part of the construction work. However, we now know that the total cost will not only be at the upper end of the expected range, but unfortunately about €20,000 higher. The main reason is that the structure needs to be more robust than originally anticipated. Initially, the architects and structural engineers assumed that wind loads could be absorbed via the building façade. Unfortunately, this turned out not to be a viable structural solution, which means the construction has to be built more solidly.
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has already donated. Every euro brings us closer to making our space accessible to everyone with the help of the elevator.
