What are furries?
If you look at Wikipedia, you read the following:
Furry fandom is the collective term for an international subculture that is interested in anthropomorphic animals. This ranges from the typical werewolf to animal cartoon and comic characters. Most members of the subculture come from the USA, Japan, Great Britain and Germany.
The word furry is used both as a noun and as an adjective. The anthropomorphic animal figures are referred to as furries (for furry characters). Fans refer to themselves as furry fans, or as furries or furs for short.
Sounds rather abstract, but before we quote the whole Wikipedia article, here is a brief summary: The Furry Community is a very creative community that revolves around human-like (anthropomorphic) animals, most of which lead a completely normal life. Comics or even animated films are drawn, stories are written and role-playing games are played. In contrast to other fandoms (e.g. fans of series or films), the characters are self-created.
Many furries have one or more such characters, called fursonas, a term derived from furry and persona. These fursonas are often seen as an extension of one’s own personality or an alternative to it. People slip into these characters in role-playing games, draw comics or have them drawn, etc. Often with the side effect that it is much easier to approach fellow furs in these characters, especially as many furries are neurodiverse and find it difficult to approach other people under normal circumstances.
Some – not all – build themselves a fursuit or have one built for them. This is a customized, individually made (fur) suit from this fursona. These fursuits are also what you typically see first and foremost when you search for pictures of furries (or see them in our anniversary calendar). However, most furries spend most of their time out and about without their fursuit, not least because they are very high-maintenance, often very impractical: you can hardly see anything and it is terribly hot in them (cooling vests are often worn under the suits in order to survive an hour or two in the fursuit).
Do we see furries as a fetish?
A fundamental misunderstanding is that being furry is a fetish, similar to a passion for rubber, sportswear, leather or other object-bound kinks. Just as being furry has nothing to do with BDSM. As in normal society, where there are people with and without BDSM and/or fetish tendencies, there are also furries with BDSM and/or fetish tendencies. Some of these kinky furries like to do BDSM in their fursonas or even fursuits. Others like to change into fetish gear (leather, rubber, lycra, etc.) and some even have a custom rubber or lycra suit that matches the colors and patterns of their fursona.
In other words: furry is not a fetish. There are furries with fetishes and lots of furries without fetishes. In the furry community, fetish and BDSM are even more of a dirty word, as there are quite a few furries who radically want to keep their community non-sexual. Many furs have to hide their inclinations from other furs. That’s why we keep the event dates somewhat hidden. Below you can find out how to get the dates.
Why this social?
The Stammtisch is from furries for furries. We want to offer furries a safe place where they can talk shop freely about their preferences, discover new ones or live out existing ones without being negatively commented on for their kinks or being furry. We offer the opportunity to have a relaxed chat, ask curious questions, watch or take action yourself.
The Furrystammtisch has existed for around 10 years and has continued to grow. We now offer 40-60 furs and their friends a kinky afternoon. We have visitors with a wide variety of specialties, so if you don’t know who to ask a question to, talk to us at the bar and we can direct you to the experts.
What you can expect and what we expect from you

We want an atmosphere in which everyone can feel comfortable. Consent is very important to us and we don’t want anything to happen to you that you don’t want. If you still feel harassed or uncomfortable, contact the staff at the counter/bar or cash desk. You can have a relaxed conversation, you can watch from a distance and, with prior agreement, you can throw yourself into the fray.
It should go without saying that there is no place for homophobia, lesbianism, transsexualism, misogyny, racism or any other form of discrimination in our club. As already mentioned, there are furs who are very critical of other furs being kinky, so you shouldn’t make a big deal about who you met there and what other visitors did there if they don’t agree with it.
